Wine soiree makes the Twitterati merry
LUDHIANA: It was a merry Sunday for city residents who tasted and toasted with a couple of wines, some cheese and crackers. The venue for the wine soiree was a farmhouse at Rajgarh Estates and the guest list had 50 friends brought together by their common love for social networking and Twitter.
A gazebo set in the middle of the sprawling lawn added just the right touch to the evening's chic quotient.

As friends caught up with each other, Sukhkaran Singh Gill of Country Homes drew attention and explained about the nine different types of wines that were brought out for tasting. He explained the way to swirl the wine in the goblet, smell, sip and roll in the mouth to get a full experience of the rich flavour.
Taking bites of the three different varieties of cheese with crackers, Gurdev Nagar-residents Preet Chandoke and his wife Neetu alternated sips of the sparkling beverage like pro wine tasters. "We are relishing the taste of each wine and really enjoying the conversations,'' said Preet.
Nishant Jariath, a resident of BRS Nagar, said he was so excited when the idea of a wine tasting party was floated on their Twitter group that he instantly offered to host it at his farmhouse. "People think they have to go abroad and enjoy such parties but when the best of wines and cheese are available in Ludhiana then what stops us,'' said Jariath.
Bobby and Tanu Vohra of Sarabha Nagar said they loved the cheese and crackers, while Ankit and Sakshi Dadu were impressed by the sensory experience that wine tasting is. "We first see the colour, then take in the smell before taking a sip and rolling it in the mouth. It is like a ceremony in itself and wonderful at that,'' said Ankit.
